Terms and conditions

These terms explain how Forecourt works and the rules for using it. They apply to everyone who uses forecourtni.com: people browsing and buying (“buyers”) and motor dealers who list cars (“dealers”). By using the site, creating an account or listing a car, you agree to them. Please also read our privacy notice, which explains how we use personal information.

1. About Forecourt

Forecourt (“Forecourt”, “we”, “us”) is a website where Northern Ireland motor dealers advertise used cars, and where buyers can search those cars and contact the dealers. Forecourt is run by Forecourt NI. You can contact us at info@forecourtni.com or on 07903 198918.

We are an advertising platform, not a seller. We don't own, inspect, sell or deliver any of the cars listed. When you buy a car you see on Forecourt, your contract is with the dealer, not with us.

2. For buyers

  • Listings, prices, photos, specifications and running-cost details are provided by the dealer. We work to keep the site accurate, but we can't guarantee that every detail is correct or that a car is still available.
  • Always check a car and its paperwork before you buy: view it in person, check the service history, MOT and V5C, and consider a vehicle history check.
  • The finance and running-cost figures on car pages are rough guides worked out from the numbers shown. They are not a finance offer, a quote or advice. Ask the dealer for their own finance quote, and get your own insurance quotes.
  • Distances are straight-line estimates from the postcode or location you give us.
  • When you buy from a dealer you have your full legal rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Any problem with a car you bought should be raised with the dealer.
  • When you send a message or test drive request, we pass your details to that dealer so they can reply. The dealer then uses them under their own privacy policy.

3. Buyer accounts and alerts

  • Accounts are free. You must be 18 or over, give accurate details and keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
  • You can choose to get alerts by email or text about new cars matching your saved searches, price drops or cars you saved coming back on sale, and My Garage reminders. You can change or stop these at any time in your account or with the link in any alert.
  • My Garage reminders are a convenience only. You remain responsible for keeping your MOT, tax and insurance up to date.
  • You can close your account at any time by emailing us.

Private sellers

  • Private adverts are free. You can have up to 2 at a time, and each runs for 60 days unless you renew it.
  • You must own the vehicle (or have the owner's permission), be selling it privately rather than as a trader, live in Northern Ireland, and describe it accurately, including any known faults or outstanding finance.
  • Every advert gets automatic safety checks, which may include an AI review of the text and photos. We may hold an advert for a person to check, reject it, or remove it later (for example if buyers report it), and we may suspend accounts that break these terms.
  • Buyers message you through Forecourt. Please don't put your phone number, email or links in the description; you can choose to show your phone number on the advert instead.
  • The sale is between you and the buyer. Forecourt isn't part of it and doesn't check vehicles, take payments or guarantee buyers.

4. For dealers

If you list cars on Forecourt, you confirm and agree that:

  • You are a genuine motor trader, and you're authorised to list the cars and represent the dealership you sign up as.
  • Every car you list is genuinely for sale, is yours or your business's to sell, and is available at the price shown.
  • Your listings are accurate and not misleading, including the price, mileage, year, condition, history and photos, and comply with consumer protection law, including the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024. The price you show must be the full price a buyer pays for the car, including any compulsory fees such as admin or preparation charges.
  • You will mark cars as sold or remove them promptly once they are no longer available.
  • Any finance you offer or promote complies with the rules that apply to you, including Financial Conduct Authority rules.
  • You own the photos and text you upload, or have permission to use them.
  • Buyers' details you receive through Forecourt are used only to deal with their enquiry. You are responsible for handling them lawfully under data protection law, and you won't use them for marketing unless the buyer has agreed to that separately.
  • You will reply to enquiries honestly and promptly. A “usually replies” badge is based on how quickly you mark enquiries as replied.

We may edit, hide or remove any listing that we reasonably believe breaks these terms or the law, or that buyers have reported as misleading.

5. Dealer plans and payment

  • Dealers pay a flat monthly fee based on their plan, as shown on our dealer page or as agreed with you in writing. There are no per-car fees.
  • Any free period (for example, for founding dealers) lasts for the time we told you when you joined. We'll remind you before it ends, and you won't be charged unless you choose to continue.
  • Plans run month to month. You can cancel at any time; your listings stay live until the end of the month you've paid for.
  • We may change our prices or plans by giving you at least 30 days' notice by email. If you don't want to continue on the new terms, you can cancel before the change takes effect.
  • Prices are shown before VAT, if VAT applies.

6. Using the site fairly

Nobody may use Forecourt to:

  • post false, misleading, offensive or unlawful content, or list a car that isn't for sale;
  • send spam, scams or unwanted marketing to other users;
  • copy, scrape or harvest listings or users' details in bulk, by automated means or otherwise, without our written permission;
  • try to get into accounts or parts of the site you shouldn't, or interfere with how the site works.

7. Content and ownership

Dealers keep ownership of the photos and descriptions they upload, but give us permission to display, resize and share them on Forecourt and when promoting listings (for example, in alerts and on social media), for as long as the car is listed and for a reasonable time afterwards. Everything else on the site, including the Forecourt name, design and software, belongs to us.

8. Our responsibility to you

  • We provide Forecourt with reasonable care and skill, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free.
  • Because we are not the seller, we are not responsible for any car, its condition or description, or anything a dealer or buyer does or doesn't do.
  • We are not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for business losses such as lost profit or lost sales.
  • For dealers, our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't legally be limited, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

9. Suspending or closing accounts

We may suspend or close an account, or remove listings, if we reasonably believe someone has broken these terms, acted unlawfully or put other users at risk. Where it's appropriate, we'll tell you why. If a dealer's account is closed for a serious breach, fees already paid aren't refundable.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Forecourt grows. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change significantly affects you, we'll tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and the courts of Northern Ireland can hear any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you have a complaint, please contact us first and we'll do our best to sort it out.
